What is Shell Cordovan?
Shell Cordovan is one of the most exclusive and sought-after types of leather in the world.

Where does it come from?
This leather doesn't come from the animal's hide, but from a specific layer of muscle beneath the skin on the horse's hindquarters, known as the "shell."

The Unique Origin of Shell Cordovan
Shell Cordovan is produced in several places in the world. One of them is Horween Leather Company in the USA, which has been making this leather since the early 1900s.
However, it is also crafted by tanneries in Italy, such as Rocado and Comipel, and in Japan, where Shinki-Hikaku produces high-quality Shell Cordovan.
The slow and labor-intensive process takes around six months to complete, making this leather highly sought after for its durability and rich patina.

What are its unique properties?
- Incredible durability: Shell Cordovan is extremely tough and develops a beautiful patina over time, meaning it only gets better with age.
- Gloss and sheen: It has a natural shine that can be polished up without much maintenance.
- Resistance to creasing: Unlike other types of leather, it doesn't crease in the same way but develops small, natural waves instead.
- Rich aroma: The process gives the leather a deep, rich leather scent that is highly appreciated by enthusiasts.
